Franklin Half Dollar Mintages
The Franklin Half Dollar series runs from 1948 to 1963. During this time, coins were produced at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco Mints. For certain years the Denver and San Francisco facilities did not produce coins. The highest mintage coin of the series is the 1963-D Franklin Half with more than 67 million produced. The lowest mintage of the series took place with the 1955 Franklin Half when less than 3 million were produced.
Regardless of the mintage levels, certain issues of the series are extremely elusive in higher mint state grades or with fully detailed strikes. There are several significant conditional rarities within the series.
